In recent years, the negative impact of conferences on the environment has increasingly attracted the attention of the entire industry. Large-scale events and conferences held in China, whether it's the 2022 Winter Olympics or the 2023 Asian Games, have all promoted and practiced the concept of "greenness."
As one of the earliest companies to enter the carbon industry, Carbonstop has been dedicated to providing low-carbon solutions for various events, from setting up low-carbon activities, digital interactive tools, customized low-carbon gifts, and more. We have helped numerous enterprises and organizations plan nearly a hundred green meetings and events, including the Global Coastal Forum, the Fifth China-Korea Trade and Investment Expo, and the 2023 Slender West Lake Digital Economy Forum.

/ The Significance of Green Events /
A green event (forum, seminar, sports meeting, etc.) needs to implement sustainable concepts throughout the process, reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, lowering material consumption and waste generation, reducing water usage, and minimizing indirect environmental impacts on air, water, and soil.
Although it may seem that additional steps are added to make an event "green," most "green" meetings and events do not require extra costs and can even save money. For example, using eco-friendly printed materials, encouraging the use of public transportation, practicing frugal setup, reducing the use of disposable items, and using locally produced (organic) food and beverages whenever possible.
Most importantly, "greening" events demonstrate the organizer's sense of social responsibility. By actively participating in environmental protection efforts, companies can showcase their commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development to the public, thereby enhancing their image and brand value. Such an image can help companies establish long-term brand value and stand out in fierce market competition.

/ How to Organize a Green Event /
The first thing we need to do is communicate, conveying the concept of green, low-carbon sustainability to all relevant parties, including event organizers and participants. Is it necessary for people to attend the meeting in person? Are alternative options such as teleconferencing, video conferencing, and webinars considered? These are essential considerations for smaller meetings. If face-to-face meetings are necessary, ensure thorough pre-event planning and choose low-carbon services that minimize environmental impact, conducting data statistics and carbon emission calculations in advance.
During the setup of a green event, consider multiple aspects such as transportation, accommodation, catering, items used, and waste disposal, choosing methods based on green and environmentally friendly principles.
- Transportation: Encourage participants to use public transportation or low-carbon travel methods to reach the event site, such as cycling, walking, or electric vehicles.
- Hotel Selection: Choose hotels with eco-labels or other environmental management system certifications whenever possible;
- Catering: Use local ingredients, provide vegetarian options, and use reusable tableware;
- Promotional Materials: Use renewable materials or recycled materials for promotional materials, reduce paper usage, and use electronic materials instead of paper;
- Collect and reuse promotional materials discarded by participants.
To better demonstrate low-carbon practices, scientific and professional carbon emission data serve as the best proof of a green event. On December 3rd, the 2023 Slender West Lake Digital Economy Forum, themed “Riding the Waves of the Blue Sea, Creating a Digital Future,” was successfully held in Yangzhou. The forum consistently adhered to the concept of a green meeting, implementing a series of emission reduction measures according to green meeting requirements, including green travel, shortening activity distances, and purchasing low-carbon items. Additionally, the forum utilized various visual charts to comprehensively present data related to energy usage and carbon emissions.
After implementing a series of green and low-carbon measures, for unavoidable carbon emissions, methods such as establishing new carbon sinks or offsetting carbon credits can be used to achieve carbon neutrality for the entire event.
To allow participants to truly experience the low-carbon concept of the event, interactive sessions are set up to deepen participants' understanding of low-carbon environmental protection concepts and practices. Organizers can provide interactive experiences for personal carbon emission calculations, issue personal carbon neutrality certificates, and offer customized sustainable gifts to increase participants' attention and understanding of the low-carbon environmental protection cause.
The Fifth China-Korea Trade and Investment Expo will be held in Yancheng City from November 3 to 7, 2023, with about 700 representatives from government agencies, business associations, Fortune Global 500 companies, top 20 industry leaders, central enterprises, listed companies, leading enterprises, and mainstream media attending. Participants used the personal carbon emission calculation software provided by Carbonstop to measure their personal carbon emissions, gaining a concrete understanding of the significance of low-carbon environmental protection through specific choices and data calculations.

/ How to Highlight Low-Carbon Practices in an Event /
In 2014, Carbonstop collaborated with the United Nations Environment Programme to complete the writing of the Green Meeting Guidelines and Actions, serving as the implementation guidelines for green meetings. The guidelines consist mainly of four parts: definition of green meetings, management and communication of green meetings, a checklist for green meeting planning, and case studies of green meetings, providing detailed guidance for the entire process from pre-meeting planning, meeting management, meeting accounting to post-meeting neutralization.
In the execution of green meeting projects over the years, Carbonstop has strictly followed the requirements outlined in the guidelines to provide green meeting services to clients. Carbonstop not only offers professional green events but also supports international events with multi-language versions.
With years of experience in green events, Carbonstop continues to upgrade and improve its service levels. This year, we launched the Sustainable Consumption Platform [Low-Carbon Heroes], featuring hundreds of low-carbon and sustainable products that have undergone carbon footprint calculations, achieved carbon reduction, and carbon neutrality. We use this platform to provide clients with customized solutions for mid-to-high-end low-carbon gifts.
We can meet clients' different needs through gift combinations, offering more choices and adding value to the gifts. We can also reserve and produce them in advance, avoiding situations where gifts cannot be provided due to tight schedules, thus providing a better service experience for clients.
We collaborate with over a hundred suppliers of low-carbon and sustainable gifts to offer clients a wide range of beautiful gifts across different price points, which can be combined according to needs; our efficient and high-quality service ensures that clients receive positive feedback and pleasant surprises from low-carbon gifts without any hassle or time consumption.
By hosting low-carbon events, more people can learn about the dangers of climate change and carbon emissions, enhancing public awareness and participation in environmental protection. At the same time, a well-organized low-carbon event can also promote exchanges and cooperation between governments, enterprises, and individuals, collectively advancing the development of environmental protection efforts.
In the future, Carbonstop will continue to leverage its professional advantages and utilize the Low-Carbon Heroes platform to provide clients with more high-quality low-carbon events.
