Today, Carbonstop has completed its 2022 corporate carbon inventory and achieved carbon neutrality for 2022, marking the eleventh consecutive year of carbon neutrality for Carbonstop!
In 2022, Carbonstop deeply implemented the CREOS corporate carbon neutrality methodology, focusing on five dimensions: Calculating, Reducing, Engaging, Offsetting, and Spreading. On the basis of successfully achieving our own carbon neutrality, we extended our influence along the value chain, inspiring more businesses and individuals to join the fight against climate change.

-- Calculating (Calculating)
The annual carbon inventory is a classic event for Carbonstop and the cornerstone of continuous carbon neutrality since our establishment.
Compared to last year, this year's inventory expanded the calculation boundaries and refined the data granularity. Specifically, in calculating transportation emissions, we thoroughly researched the billing rules for different modes of transportation and attempted a segmented metering method for the first time to improve the accuracy of carbon emission data generated by employee commuting and business travel.
Considering the expansion of the calculation boundary and the scale of data, the inventory team utilized the Carbon Cloud Ccloud to complete this year's inventory. We established a carbon emission model file for Carbonstop using Carbon Cloud Ccloud and automatically generated a carbon emission report and emission register.
After the inventory, Carbonstop emitted a total of 193.4 tons of CO2 equivalents in 2022.
Business growth inevitably brings more complex business data. The inventory team will continue to optimize the inventory model, improve data quality, and no longer rely solely on annual inventory work. Instead, we will actively leverage digital tools to manage Carbonstop's carbon emissions with precision and consistency.
-- Reducing (Reducing)
In addition to conducting our own carbon inventory, we implemented a series of low-carbon initiatives this year to minimize our carbon footprint as much as possible.
Carbonstop started from important scenarios to the minutiae of daily office work, continuously implementing emission reduction projects, striving to be practitioners and advocates of low-carbon concepts, contributing to the fight against climate change.
In 2021, during the renovation of the new office, Carbonstop used carbon-neutral carpets, reducing emissions by about 5 tons compared to traditional carpets, equivalent to planting 447 trees. We also used leased air purifiers to address the issue of long-term idleness, reducing emissions by about 114.5 kilograms annually, equivalent to planting 6 trees.
In 2022, we actively promoted a low-carbon culture internally, developing employee carbon accounts, and promoting low-carbon commuting, low-carbon offices, low-carbon business travel, and low-carbon procurement.
In 2023, Carbonstop partnered with M&G and Meituan Green Plan to launch the first carbon-neutral stationery, which has now become the best companion for our employees' daily work.
-- Engaging (Engaging)
Engaging employees, partners, and the entire supply chain in practicing low-carbon concepts is a crucial part of the journey to corporate carbon neutrality.
In 2022, Carbonstop successfully hosted the "Walk & Win" low-carbon walking activity. Over a month-long period, the event encouraged employees to commute sustainably and cultivate low-carbon travel habits.
During the activity, Carbonstop employees became pioneers in low-carbon walking.
Low-carbon champion A would get off the subway early and walk to the office, covering about 3 kilometers each time, reducing carbon emissions by 234 grams daily compared to taking the subway the entire way.
Age-defying goddesses B and C, who live in the same neighborhood near the company, agreed to finish work early and walk home along the riverbank after dinner.
Dedicated team leader D regularly encouraged team members to walk more and reminded them to walk whenever possible during short trips on weekends.
Over the course of the month, participants accumulated a total of 17,429,378 steps. Assuming an adult step length of 0.6 meters, this equates to walking 10,457 kilometers, roughly the distance between Mohe and Tengchong. Compared to driving, this reduced carbon emissions by 2,489 kg, equivalent to planting 139 saxaul trees.
Through the "Walk & Win" activity, employees not only realized that daily activities can also reduce emissions but also experienced the positive feedback from walking exercises. Even though the event has ended, many participants continue to walk to work and for short trips.
Additionally, Carbonstop initiated a voluntary offsetting activity for employee commuting emissions. Inventory officers calculated the annual commuting emissions for everyone and assisted in purchasing various types of carbon credits to offset personal commuting emissions.
According to statistics, about 59% of Carbonstop employees had annual commuting emissions below 50 kg, with most opting for the most environmentally friendly commuting methods—walking or cycling.
Based on the intensity of everyone's commuting emissions, we awarded different levels of titles. Each participant received a certificate of annual commuting carbon neutrality, and some lucky participants received commemorative gifts—low-carbon commuting cards. We also encourage these colleagues to continue their efforts, making low-carbon commuting a trend at Carbonstop.
-- Offsetting (Offsetting)
For unavoidable carbon emissions, Carbonstop offset them by purchasing high-quality carbon credits and carbon assets.
Carbonstop adopted eight offset methods, including China Certified Emission Reductions (CCER), Certified Emission Reductions (CER) under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), and Verified Emission Reductions (VERs) under the Verra International Verified Carbon Standard.
For Scope 2 emissions from purchased electricity, we partially offset them by purchasing green power certificates issued by the National Renewable Energy Information Management Center. The remaining portion was offset by purchasing CCERs.
Of course, we planted trees on Arbor Day. We donated and planted 60 spruces in Yanchuan County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province, which are expected to absorb approximately 5.76 tons of CO2 over their lifetimes. Besides donations, Carbonstop employees worked together to successfully plant a larch tree on Ant Forest.
This year, Carbonstop carefully selected and sponsored a forest biodiversity conservation project under the Gold Standard (GS). The project aims to introduce sustainable wood production and restore degraded pastures by mixing native tree species with teak. The new forests will provide natural habitats for local flora and fauna, contributing to climate change mitigation.
-- Spreading (Spreading)
Spreading refers to disseminating low-carbon concepts, which we believe is an advanced form of fulfilling corporate environmental responsibility.
Carbonstop cares about every partner. In daily life, we encourage employees to actively spread low-carbon knowledge to friends and family. During business receptions, every visitor to Carbonstop is invited to our iconic temperature rise wall to review the temperature increase since 1850.
The vibrant moss wall beside the temperature rise wall embodies the deep expectations of Carbonstop employees. We hope to help people combat climate change through nature-based solutions and save our planet with green actions.
To advocate for more companies to embark on the carbon neutrality journey, in 2022, we established the Carbonstop Research Institute, collaborating with leading experts in the industry to create a carbon management industry exchange platform. Through the Carbonstop Research Institute, we aim to help companies create endless possibilities on their path to carbon neutrality.
On the second anniversary of China's dual carbon targets, Carbonstop hosted the GCMC Global Carbon Management Conference, inviting seasoned industry experts and low-carbon benchmark companies to share ten key insights and trend analyses on carbon management, discussing global carbon management issues.
Adhering to the concept of a green conference, Carbonstop considered venue energy efficiency and surrounding public transportation from the initial site selection. Measures to reduce emissions included material recycling, paperless registration, public transportation use, and low-carbon food provision. Remaining emissions were offset, successfully achieving carbon neutrality for the conference.
In 2023, Carbonstop turns 12. Despite the ups and downs in the industry, we have never wavered from our original direction. Now, with the strong support of national dual carbon policies, Carbonstop will stand firm, providing professional services to more companies and advancing on the path to carbon neutrality!
