At 12 years old, people transition from childhood to adolescence, marking a shift from a state of flux to relative stability. However, for the carbon industry and Carbonstop, it feels like the dawn of a new beginning. At this special moment, Carbonstop has many reflections, thoughts, thanks, and visions to share with everyone.

After 12 years of perseverance, Carbonstop now boasts three core businesses: carbon management consulting, carbon management software, and the Carbon Management SaaS platform - CCloud.

We aspire to give every product a carbon footprint, not just as a slogan, but as a concrete mission and commitment.

We aim to become an entry-level company for China's carbon neutrality, offering practical and effective assistance and value to advance the dual carbon goals and empower enterprises to achieve green transformation.

In this endeavor, Carbonstop has never forgotten its original aspirations—forever young!

Believe in the Power of Belief

In Greek mythology, the gods punished Sisyphus by making him push a massive boulder up a hill. Just as he reached the top, the boulder would roll back down, and he had to start again, day after day, year after year.

People see this task as hopeless and arduous, but Sisyphus became a hero admired by Camus: if every step were supported by hope of success, where would his suffering come from?

If the history of the carbon industry is the boulder, then over the past 12 years, practitioners in this field have shown qualities akin to Sisyphus in Camus' writings—dedicated, passionate, clear-headed, believing in themselves, and never stopping.

On this day in 2011, a young man named Lu Hui rented an office in Yizhuang and founded Carbonstop.

Later, he coded the first carbon emission management software in China late into the night; faced skepticism about whether such an industry existed; was invited to the United Nations Climate Change Conference; used his credit card to pay employee salaries; launched a popular carbon trading mini-program; and saw the carbon account gain 300,000 new users in just one week...

These moments brought disappointment, ecstasy, and uncertainty, but he believed even more firmly that carbon neutrality is an opportunity for Carbonstop and a mission of the times. Carbonstop's growth over 12 years has been driven by the power of belief.

Not Just Observers of Our Time

In 2009, during the Copenhagen Climate Conference, China made its first national carbon reduction commitment: to reduce carbon emissions per unit of GDP by 40-45% by 2020 compared to 2005 levels.

On June 17, 2013, China's first National Low-Carbon Day marked the beginning of the Chinese carbon market era.

In December 2015, the Paris Agreement was adopted at COP21, a landmark in global carbon reduction and carbon neutrality efforts.

In December 2017, China launched its carbon market, establishing the world's largest carbon trading market.

On September 22, 2020, China formally pledged to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, setting the stage for China's all-in approach to carbon neutrality for decades to come.

Throughout the development of the global and Chinese carbon industries, Carbonstop has been an active participant.

Carbonstop has also gathered a team of experienced carbon analysts, managers, and expert think tanks from around the world, providing professional and up-to-date knowledge sharing and solutions for the industry.

Meanwhile, our professional team continues to grow, from a handful of members initially to nearly 100 today. These achievements are not only due to Carbonstop being in the right place at the right time but also because of the dedication and companionship of every Carbonstopper.

Tackling Challenges Together for a Zero-Carbon Future

2022 was a tough year under the pressure of the international economic environment, industry fluctuations, and recurring pandemics, for the industry, enterprises, and individuals alike.

Fortunately, we stayed true to our original aspirations, striving to maintain resilience, innovation, sincerity, and optimism, and continued to view the promotion of dual carbon goals and the creation of a zero-carbon future as our only choice.

In the past year, we remained active:

In January, the Carbon Management SaaS platform "CCloud" obtained certification from an international authoritative certification body;

In May, we invited over 50 top experts and consultants in the carbon sector to establish the "Carbonstop Research Institute";

In September, we hosted the inaugural "Global Carbon Management Conference (GCMC)";

In November, we were invited to attend the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference;

In early 2023, we were selected for the Microsoft Accelerator program.

Of course, low-carbon living can start with us, making a small contribution to the cause of low-carbon and environmental protection.

Last year marked the 10th consecutive year that Carbonstop achieved 100% carbon neutrality for our company.

The Carbon Account for individuals, launched last year, surpassed 300,000 new user registrations in its first week.

A couple proactively invited Carbonstop to co-create a beautiful carbon-neutral wedding with them.

Everyone can easily purchase the "Carbon Neutral Organic Mooncakes" that we co-released with Zhenggu last year.

We also collaborated with ChenGuang and Meituan Green Plan to create "China's First Carbon Neutral Stationery."

UN Secretary-General Guterres said, “The pandemic will eventually pass, but climate change is here to stay.”
