Recently, Carbonstop completed the carbon offset for multiple inventory products of Simply This, a pioneer in zero-carbon skincare concepts in China, and issued a carbon neutrality certificate to the company.
The carbon offsets cover Simply This's inventory products from September 1, 2021, to August 31, 2022.
A total of eight products were involved, including Ice Melting Hydrating Hand Cream, Radiance Revitalizing Essence Lotion, Skin Permeating Micro-Essence Water, Timeless Firming Eye and Lip Cream, Body Oil, Classic Cream, Lightweight Cream, and Simply This Multi-Effect Repair Mask.
After reviewing the carbon footprint of the products, Carbonstop assisted in purchasing CERs generated from the Shandong Linyi Biomass Power Generation Project to offset the carbon emissions, achieving carbon neutrality for this batch of inventory products.
As an advocate of skincare ecological concepts, Simply This is committed to creating sustainably effective skincare products while consistently upholding sustainable development principles. They use environmentally friendly ingredients in their products, packaging made from sugarcane paper printed with soy ink, and offer refillable options, demonstrating their philosophy through a series of eco-friendly initiatives.

In 2020, Simply This officially launched the "Simply This Zero-Carbon Skincare Plan" and completed the construction of the No. 1 Cherry Zero-Carbon Orchard (800 trees) and No. 2 Pomegranate Zero-Carbon Orchard (1000 trees) in Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan. They also actively practice their zero-carbon commitment through diversified market methods such as purchasing green electricity and carbon credits.
Carbon neutrality is a consensus and direction for future enterprise development, but the path to achieving carbon neutrality is long and challenging. How to manage carbon has always been an important topic of continuous consideration and discussion within the industry.
Based on years of industry experience, the Carbonstop team has developed the carbon neutrality methodology CREOS, hoping to provide some inspiration for enterprises and products to achieve carbon neutrality.
C stands for Calculating, which involves measuring and quantifying carbon emissions. Only by clearly understanding the carbon emissions at various stages of the entire enterprise or product can a carbon neutrality goal be set. For example, before achieving carbon neutrality for this batch of inventory products, Simply This needed to first calculate the carbon footprint of the products.
R stands for Reducing, which involves finding targeted reduction points and implementing reductions after calculating the carbon emission data. For instance, if the production stage of raw materials emits the most (including transportation of raw materials), selecting low-emission raw materials and changing transportation vehicles from oil-powered to electric can reduce carbon emissions during production.
E stands for Engaging, which means involving internal members, ecosystem partners, and others to participate together, creating greater value. For example, Simply This uses sugarcane paper and soy ink for packaging, promoting reduction in the packaging industry along the value supply chain through its own actions.
O stands for Offsetting, which involves offsetting the remaining unavoidable carbon emissions after taking various carbon reduction measures, such as planting trees or purchasing carbon credits.
S stands for Spreading, which involves communicating the achievement of carbon neutrality for a particular stage or product. This enhances brand competitiveness and raises awareness of the significance of carbon neutrality, encouraging more enterprises, institutions, and consumers to join in.
Achieving carbon neutrality is not something that happens overnight; it requires unwavering and persistent effort from enterprises. Carbonstop will leverage its expertise and over a decade of industry experience to assist enterprises in achieving carbon neutrality, moving forward towards becoming a leading entry-level company in China's carbon neutrality sector and realizing the vision that every product has a carbon footprint.
