Recently, the first sustainable-themed bookstore in Beijing, Oneway Space Tan Valley Store and Langyuan Station Store, has collaborated with Carbonstop to conduct carbon accounting for multiple scenes within the space. The aim is to raise awareness about the impact of individual actions on the environment through the form of carbon labels, thereby establishing a lasting and sustainable daily routine.

In this collaboration, Carbonstop, as the exclusive carbon footprint partner, conducted carbon footprint/carbon reduction accounting for multiple scenes within Oneway Space and placed carbon labels at corresponding locations. These carbon labels not only showcase Oneway Space's efforts in sustainability but also help consumers better understand how every action and choice in daily life is closely related to climate change through more relatable life scenarios.
The "Oneway Sustainability Program" covers various aspects, including book exchange, reuse of Oneway calendars, cup deposit for bringing your own cups, use of eco-friendly paper coffee cups, repeated use of recycled paper eco-bags/kraft paper bags/canvas bags, bike-friendly stores, and the use of recycled furniture. Each measure aims to minimize carbon emissions during the operation of the bookstore and customer consumption behaviors.

For example, the reuse of Oneway calendars involves using old calendars as order numbers for coffee purchases, encouraging the reuse of paper. Reusing a single Oneway calendar can reduce carbon emissions by 1.03gCO₂e, equivalent to the full lifecycle carbon footprint of a new calendar of the same weight, similar to using a smartphone for half an hour.
The calculation used a quick estimation method based on the China Carbon Emission Factor Database (CCDB), Defra 2023, and the 2022 National Statistical Yearbook. A single Oneway calendar weighs 1g, and the lifecycle carbon emission factor for paper (the carbon emissions generated per unit of paper weight during raw material acquisition, production, and disposal) is 1.03kgCO₂e/kg. Therefore, the carbon footprint of a single Oneway calendar = calendar weight * paper carbon emission factor = 1.03gCO₂e.

Through detailed carbon reduction calculations and carbon labels, Oneway Space has integrated the concept of sustainability into its daily operations, creating a comfortable and eco-friendly reading space for readers. It tells us that every small change can bring a positive impact on the planet. Whether it's commercial spaces, cultural venues, or residential communities, there is potential to become a domain that influences more people.
Carbonstop has always believed that "without measurement, there is no management." We are committed to our mission of "letting every product have a carbon footprint," hoping to use scientific and precise figures to make more people feel our relationship with nature. At the beginning of this year, we started labeling many products and scenes with carbon labels starting from Carbonstop. Today, we extend carbon labels to even more scenes, hoping to influence more people. If you also want to use carbon labels to influence more people with your brand, products, and spaces, please contact us.
