“Growing Against the Trend, Achieving Transformation” CPiS 2022 Packaging Power Forum was held in Suzhou on October 25, 2022. Nearly a thousand professionals from the packaging industry gathered in Suzhou to listen to insights from experts in capital, platforms, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands, and packaging suppliers.
Carbonstop founder Yan Luhui was invited to attend the conference and delivered a keynote speech titled “Innovation and Path Exploration for Packaging Carbon Reduction in the Carbon Neutrality Era,” sharing insights on the realization paths and innovative models for low-carbon packaging.

Yan Luhui of Carbonstop delivers a keynote speech
With the proposal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality," green and sustainable development has become a goal for various industries. Major brands are increasingly focusing on carbon neutrality as a strategic goal, working on environmental protection in production, operations, and other areas. There is also growing attention and innovation in practices related to these goals. For brands to achieve carbon neutrality, it is essential that the entire lifecycle of product packaging is also carbon neutral.
As the trend of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" continues to grow, primary packaging materials and secondary packaging materials will face revolutionary changes. How should the packaging industry adapt to these changes and achieve growth against the trend?
Yan Luhui believes that carbon neutrality presents a new opportunity and challenge for all industries, including the packaging industry. Without quantification, there can be no management. To address the pain points in carbon emission calculations in the packaging industry, such as the implementation of carbon footprint standards, carbon data collection, and carbon calculation, Carbonstop uses the CREOS methodology to ensure that every product package has a carbon footprint.
Regarding the pain points faced by the packaging industry in achieving carbon neutrality, such as the lack of carbon footprint standards, difficulties in data collection, duplicate calculations, and controversies over carbon emission factors, Yan Luhui also shared Carbonstop's digital solution—the Carbon Cloud.

Carbonstop's Integrated Carbon Management Platform—Carbon Cloud
Carbon Cloud is an integrated carbon management platform pioneered by Carbonstop. Leveraging the world's largest carbon emission factor database and over a decade of practical experience serving more than 1,200 leading carbon management enterprises, Carbon Cloud helps businesses calculate carbon emissions, formulate carbon neutrality path plans, achieve low-carbon disclosures, build low-carbon capabilities, and operate sustainably.
Additionally, Carbon Cloud builds advanced calculation models to achieve intelligent matching of factors, meeting the needs of businesses to easily obtain complete and precise carbon inventory data, generate carbon reports with one click, accurately quantify carbon emissions, efficiently manage carbon data, and reduce carbon management costs.
At the conference, Yan Luhui also shared the technical path of thefirst "zero-carbon booth" created by Carbonstop in collaboration with Yili Group. As a leader in China's dairy industry, Yili Group has consistently sought opportunities to reduce carbon emissions through collaborations across various related industries.

Yili's "Green Booth"
At the forum, Yili Group's booth used environmentally friendly construction materials. By calculating the carbon footprint of raw materials, construction energy consumption, and operational energy consumption, the carbon emissions throughout the lifecycle of the booth were studied. Under the guidance of Carbonstop, Yili Group used CCER certified voluntary emission reductions to offset these emissions, ultimately achieving carbon neutrality for the booth, making it the first "zero-carbon booth" in the dairy industry. Notably, the carbon reduction achieved by this booth is equivalent to running the landscape lights of the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai for 17 hours.

"We believe that the carbon footprint of every product will be scientifically calculated and will gradually guide consumers to choose low-carbon products. Only then will carbon neutrality truly transform all industries, and carbon neutrality will be fully realized," Yan Luhui said.
